Recapping another week of highs and lows, with some teams continuing excellence and others wondering where they went wrong. Wrong can be so many different things to different owners, from setting their lineup or missing that stud on the waiver wire, to wondering why they even bothered to sign up. Week 2 saw 6 of 20 team remain undefeated, plenty of blowouts, a few key player injuries and disappointment aplenty. Still plenty of season left there kiddies, so lets look at last weeks newsiest news...
The Funk turns back Wwert
As league scoring crept up this week, it didn't affect LiLPennyJr’s Funk, who kept the press on and kept scores low, leading most of the way, and was never really challenged during the week, downing Wwert2013 635.25-507 in this low scoring affair. The Funk rode the hot week of Andre Iguodala, and the coming out party of one Andrea Bargnani to get the win and move to 2-0. Like last week, Wwert 2013 struggled to get scoring going early, relying on a strong series by Jae Crowder, but not getting much help otherwise. The LiLPennyJr's Funk goes out of conference to keep their streak alive against Team Seth, while Wwert 2013 looks to get off the snide against Keyser Shump.
Pablo rises on the Love Childs
Raise up for Pablo, getting some strong guard play from Chris Paul and Monta Ellis and balanced scoring throughout the rest of the lineup turned back Chris’s love Childs 785-624.50. The Childs, despite getting a monster series by Paul George and Michael Carter-Williams had no answer for Pablo, and who does, that crafty little sucker. Both teams move to 1-1, with Raise up for Pablo challenging Stingy’s Scimitar in an early out of division mashup, while the Chris's love Childs look to delay Fibula Recovery Team's recovery another week.
This one got ugly in a hurry, as the Big Zeppole posting the highest weekly point total of the young season brutalizing Team Seth, 878.75-513. In fact, the margin of victory (365) itself outscored 2 teams from last week! Zeppole once again riding the unibrow, Anthony Davis, who exploded for 171 points, and got strong support from Gordon Hayward who chipped in another 126 point and just made it tough on Seth. Team Seth, despite good series scoring from Lebron James and Tim Duncan really had no other support and struggled to get it going. The Big Zeppole moves on to an early season heavyweight slugfest with undefeated Gunsbound , while Seth looks to fake the funk out of LiLPennyJr’s Funk.
A GAxing in Q-Boro
GAxamaphoone delivered the largest beatdown last week, and this week tried its hand with the nailbiter, outlasting Q Boro HiRisers 549.75-507.25. Seth Curry led the way for GAx, with support from Greg Monroe. JR Smith made his 2013 debut, but didn’t make an impact in the scoring in the first game back. Q Boro got a great series from Roy Hibbert, but didn’t have enough players going Sunday to get any closer. GAxamaphoone looks to make dreams into nightmares as they take on PIPE DREAMIN’ while Q-Boro HiRisers look to avoid getting Ethered this week against, you guessed it, You-Got-Ethered.
Metta gets Hammered
Hammer and the Bell put up big points with the second highest point total in the week, downing Metta World Wonders 850.25-666.00. Hammer had 5 players break 99 points, with DeAndre Jordan leading the way with 134.5, which was too much scoring to overcome. Metta got strong performances by Danny Green and Jose Calderon but just ran into a juggernaut this week. It only gets harder for Metta World Wonders, as they host Gbaked G Ballars and hope to avoid an 0-3 start, while Hammer and the Bell looks to continue their winning ways against the Wookie of the Year.
Chico is not the man, says the GBallars
Gbaked Gballars continue to put points up in a hurry and play to their strengths as they downed Chico 695-565. The Gballars got strong play from Corey Brewer and Paul Millsap, who along with Dwayne Wade all made up for the lack of Wilson Chandler scoring, who hopes to make his season debut later this week. Chico, relying on only 7 players for scoring was paced by David West, and not much else. Chico gets an easier matchup this week against 21 Shump Street, while the Gballars take on the winless Metta World Wonders.
No Recovery here – Guns a bound…
Gunsbound, putting up big point totals for the 2nd week in a row took it to Fibula Recovery team 833.75-638.75. The Bounds were paced by another monster series from Kevin Love and good scoring from Blake Griffin, Kevin Martin, not to mention solid numbers from Jeremy Lin. The Recovery Team dropped to 0-2 despite strong play from Tony Parker and Carmelo Anthony, and the return of Russell Westbrook. Fibula Recovery looks to recover this week against Chris’s love Childs, while Gunsbound gears up for a king of the mountain, battle royal, suplex from the top rope inside a rusty cage- style smackfest with The Big Zeppole - CAN....... YOU........... DIG...... IT!!!!
An Ethering on Shump Street
You-Got-Ethered got Derrick Rose back, but didn’t need him as they turned this one into a blowout, downing 21 Shump Street 626.50 to 394. Leading the Ether charge was Dion Waiters and Jeff Green, with some spot points by our favorite Hardaway, Tim Hardaway Jr. Shump Street saw a lot from Kyrie Irving, but not much else as they exceeded the goose egg quota for fantasy rosters.. You-Got hopes to continue the Ethering when they head over to Q-Boro to face the HiRisers, while 21 Shump Street takes it to Chico... without the man..
Wookies downed by the Scimitar
Stingy’s Scimitar keeps rolling along, as they moved on to 2-0 defeating Wookie of the Year 713.50-549.25. Wookie was paced again by Eric Gordon and Dwight Howard, but couldn’t overcome the balanced effort by the Scimitar, who got scoring from the entire team, but led by James Harden and Marcin Gortat. Stingy’s Scimitar hopes to keep Raise up for Pablo grounded, while Wookie of the year looks to get on pace and avoid being hit by the Hammer and the Bell.
Keyser Shump gets the Pipe..
Pipe Dreamin’, moving past last weeks tight game loss had the last word in this one, dropping pipe on Keyser Sump 632.75-471.25. The Dreamin’ got another strong series from Kevin Durant, Ty Lawson and JJ Redick, while holding down the fort for the return of Rajon Rondo and Danilo Gallinari. Keyser Shump got strong games from Al Horford and Serge Ibaka and spoiled a good series from Nikola Pekovic but the lack of guard production is taking its toll on the team. Keyer Shump looks to avoid an 0-3 start when they take on Wwert 2013, while PIPE DREAMIN’ looks to continue their pipe exploits against GAxamaphoon.. Not for nothing, but I thought Pekovic, far right, was killed in Superman 3
