Knicks have agreed to sign veteran forward Kenyon Martin to a 10-day contract, a source told Yahoo! Sports.
The Knicks have signed Kenyon Martin, just as everybody thought. I personally love it. Donte Green also made some sense, but Kenyon helps in two major ways: toughness and switching. As we all know, we switch a lot on defense... Kenyon is actually VERY good at covering perimeter players on switches which would help mitigate the mismatches we create for ourselves all the time. We still are stuck with having the small covering the big, so yes we'll still be stuck with the occasional Shumpert on David West or Raymond Felton trying to front a guy a foot taller than him but KMart's an upgrade over Kurt and James White. Some may question if this kills Melo at the 4, personally I don't think so. I think we see Kenyon get some minutes as the back up 5 and taking all of Kurt's minutes. When Camby and/or Sheed come back (not looking like if anymore, but when), he probably won't play much or at all.
Best part, it's only a 10 day so if it doesn't work out, we can sign Greene or Amundson (if they're still available). Plus all the guys who will be bought out.
