J.R. Smith is Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Woo! The league just announced that J.R. Smith was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for his excellence in the Knicks' last four games, all wins. J.R.'s performance included three games of 30+ points (he was the first bench bro to do so since Ricky Pierce in 1990), double-digit free throw attempts in all but one game, and 54 percent shooting overall, plus a lovely smattering of rebounds, assists, and steals. We saw a whole lot o' driving, spinning, faking, finishing, foul-drawing, and pipe-laying. Good J.R. the whole way.

This is the first time Smith's ever won a Player of the Week award, and it may very well be the best week of his career. Dude's been playing like a star since mid-March. One can only hope he keeps it up. Here's J.R.'s reaction:
