Ok, so the first game between the Knicks and the Celtics is in history now, but there are couple things worth mentioning before the series continues. First, Knicks really stepped up in 4th quarter, which is good, but that game smelled from the beginning. Here are couple thinks I like and dislike about last night.
Ageless Jason Kidd
Oh my, did he was a factor or what. After those two airballs from the three point line, he made couple in the row to put Knicks on the stretch. He rebounded well. But most importantly his two steals in the fourth quarter were crucial. While 40 years old, Kidd was one of the most energetic players on the floor. Kudos to JKidd, he still has it.
Carmelo Anthony's defence
Although he is capable of being the best one on one Knicks' defender on the floor, his effort is not quite good all the time, we all know that. But what irritated me the most is that moment he whined for the call and didn't get beck on D at time. Jeff Green hit a buzzer beater in the first quarter because of that. Melo also struggles when defending pick n roll plays. He doesn't hedge at all. Fortunately Brandon Bass didn't take an advantage of it this time.
The wrong JR Smith
Of those two versions of JR Smith, we've seen the "I will shoot until I make a shot" one. He did have good stretches but no lie, I wanted him out in the third quarter. However it's JR Smith and after all those misses he hit the important one. I really hope JR will get into his usual zone next two games, especially the on in Boston. I am still buying that "Team with the best player in the series wins" theory, but I think this one will be determined by what version of himself will JR Smith bring to the table.
