Ok... I'll admit. I have absolutely no insider info on Myck Kabongo. I do know that his first name is not pronounced 'Mick' - it's pronounced 'Mike'. Which is weird. And awesome.
Here's what I read:
Here's something I saw:
I like that this guy loves to get his teammates involved. Like, not just does it because he's under 6'4" and being a point guard is his path to the NBA - but because he actually wants to see his teammates score. You can't teach that. He's not much of a shooter himself, as in, he doesn't like shooting all that much. But I think his form looks OK and he could spot up 3's. He's also not a big leaper. But leaping produces dunks, and point guards don't need dunks. He's got a quick little burst of speed and seems, from the film I've seen to have a pretty good understanding of how to create space. And he knows the pick and roll, they say.

Sorry. I mean, c'mon people. If there's any slight chance this guy can be a good contributor to the Knicks, don't we have to take that chance, so we can hear the Garden reverberate with this chantworthiest of all names?
And I do think there's a chance. There's something about the kid's demeanor I like. He's high energy, but he seems kind of chill and unflappable. He seems to be a good communicator, very at ease with himself. He's got charisma, but it's not really goofball charisma. There's a positivity to his countenance that stops short of being unserious. I think he will soak up knowledge from veterans like a sponge with the goodest of humor, and race out on the court injecting life into the proceedings, and quite possibly mature into a very nice point guard.
