Dwight Howard has fallen into place, so now the other crumbs get to settle in his wake (I don't know if this is actually related to Dwight, but it somehow seems like everything is):
Indiana is finalizing agreement on a two-year deal with Knicks free agent Chris Copeland, league sources tell Y!— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) July 5, 2013
1. $3 million is obviously more than the $1.75 million chunk of the mini MLE the Knicks are permitted to match, so though he is technically a "restricted" free agent, Chris Copeland will be a Pacer...because I don't know. Rules suck.
2. It sucks that it came to this, but using the mini-MLE on Pablo Prigioni plus someone else is, to me, wiser than using all of it to match Copeland's offer sheet.
3. Get that money, Cope. You deserve it. I wish you a long, splendid career with lots of stats and zero victories.
4. Jeez, Pacers.
5. We'll always have the backpack:
Godspeed, Cope. Thanks for a fine year in New York. You came a long, long way.
