Listen, I know we've all had our problems with JR in the past.... But what he's doing now has completely changed my mind about the Tatted Tasmanian Devil.
Right in the midst of his hot streak, JR sustained a broken cheekbone. Dang. It would be very easy for him to just say "You know what boys, I'm going to sit on my ass and I'll see you boys in Memphis after the All Star break." But you know what, he didn't. JR has proclaimed that he is going to play in the game against the Kings tomorrow night. This is a game that I would consider a must-win for the Knicks going into the break. The Rondo rumors keep floating around, and a big "show-me" win might be the kick in the ass the higher ups need to make the blockbuster and put together the package Boston wants for one of the best Point men in the game today.
I'm selling my soul when I say this, but I condone the Rondo trade, even though it's probably going to cost us a 1st round draft pick in the future. Hopefully not the 2015 draft, where we'll see the likes of Cook, Stauskas, Ennis (if he doesn't declare this year) Cooney, Selden and Mcgary. However, we'll probably give them our first round picks for the next 8 years if I know Dolan.
That was a bit off topic, but I think this is a power move by JR. He's not giving up on the Knicks, and he doesn't want us to either. At 11 games under .500, it's pretty easy to do just that. I just wanted to take this time to say thank you to JR, for not taking the easy way out. You realize you recent play has been a big lift to our offense, and that we need that kind of production on the court. You've earned yourself a night at the club.
