I'm no expert on protective masks.
20 years ago, John Starks played with a protective face mask. He played huge games while wearing it. He played well (mostly), and hard (always).
JR Smith has had more than week to acclimate to his mask. He continues to play poorly in it (which isn't entirely dissimilar from his performance this year without it) and complain about it.
Question 1: Is it safe to assume over two decades' time that protective face masks should be less of a hindrance than before?
Question 2: Will you, Knick fans, pledge today, once and for all, like a room full of high schoolers after sex ed. class pledging to "remain" virgins, to no longer compare these two wildly divergent players and personalities?
