Maybe it's that my fan-brain currently subsists only on heartbreak, believing heartbreak contains actual nutrients, or maybe I'm just bored and have the urge to write about something. That wasn't a sentence. Anyhow, exactly one week ago I decided to put together a sheet to track the
Knicks chances of making the playoffs (stfu, ok). Things were bleak, but I wanted to know HOW bleak. It turns out they seemed less bleak than I had thought. Only read on if you hate yourself:

Yeah, the image uploaded really small no matter how many times I tried to make it bigger. Click on it to see a bigger version.
ANYHOW- in summary, the green is actual and the rest is projected. Yes, I projected the Knicks to beat the
Nets twice (because fuck it).
Otherwise things are
relatively within the realm of possibility (FARTDOG prevailing).
So in short. NO PLAYOFFS UNLESS:
1) The Knicks win all easy ones, AND win some tough ones
2) The
Hawks lose all hard ones AND some easy ones
3) Some combination of 1 and 2
There are a few factors that may favor the Knicks, such as:
The
76ers and
Bucks are so out of reach for other tankers that the
Celtics and
Pistons might actually try to win some. Also, the 76ers might want to win A GAME at some point, so why not the one vs. the Hawks?
More factors:Some of the tougher teams might rest starters, giving the Knicks a chance to beat a
Bulls or
Heat (insert lol here).
Verdict:
If you've read this far then you officially possess some modicum of hope. I order you to crawl into a tiny corner and sob uncontrollably.
