Rhambot & Jackson: An ESP Connect-Disconnect Theory

There have been reported incidences of ESP where two people who are very close communicate without speaking in the presence of a third party. You may or may not have experienced this phenomenon yourself. You may not believe in such phenomenon at all. For the sake of this argument such a belief is not necessary. But let us posit that in specialized disciplines that shorthand can become a type of ESP. The phrase "You said what I was just thinking," comes to mind.

Kurt Rambis and Phil Jackson have had a professional relationship for a long time now, and evidently they communicate a great deal. This is one of Phil's reasons for liking Kurt so much. Let it be posited that some sort of professional ESP probably occurs between these bros, the degree of which is unknowable.

Rhambot also has a notoriously difficult time communicating with his players, with whom he has had a much shorter professional association with. What if Rhambot's connection with Phil is really strong, but he has trouble discerning when he's communicating ESP-style (or trying and failing) with other basketsports people? What if Rhombot believes he's said something, but actually said little at all, or nothing was actually vocalized? It seems reasonable that someone would be in an ESP mode, but those intended to get the communication were no where near the same wavelength. The degree to which such an ESP mode might be engaged or misengaged (siloed llngo to communicative grunting to full blown actual ESP) would determine the degree of non-communication occuring.

I like this idea because it fits (a) his tightness with Phil and (b) the appalling disconnect he has with his players.
