Good day, gauchos. I hope it's been a good one for you and that you haven't had any confrontations with swarms of bees. You know, unless you're into that kind of thing. If you'd like to take a break, I've got a bunch of links to share after the jump.

Here are the guys working out for the Knicks on Thursday.

Photo

The Knicks brought in their first group of six bros for pre-draft workouts today. Perhaps we'll hear more about how that went later. In the meantime, they've released the names of the six fellows coming in tomorrow. Here they are, via Alan Hahn:

Scott Machado (6'1" PG, Iona)

Miles Plumlee (6'11" C, Duke)

Oscar Bellfield (6'2" G, UNLV)

Darius Johnson-Odom (6'2" SG, Marquette)

Bradford Burgess (6'6" G/F, VCU)

Cameron Moore (6'10" F/C, UAB)

As usual, I don't have very much to say about these guys. I know a lot of y'all have expressed interest in Machado and I know I don't want any part of the Plumlee family, but that's about it. Beyond that, all I can offer is that this group includes a disproportionate number of names that sound like Civil War generals.

Lend your expertise in the comments, and look forward to our friend viva_morrison's forthcoming "Know the Prospect" series.

The Knicks' 2011-2012 Offensive Outcomes

Photo

Ian Levy of Hickory-High has a gift for collating, analyzing, and presenting NBA data in such a way that even a cave-dwelling fart-sniffer like me can learn something. Yesterday, I passed along his neat little web charts of offensive outcomes. We shook our heads at that giant "Carmelo Anthony- Isolation" icicle, puzzled over the "Tyson Chandler- PnR Ball Handler" sector that ended up being a typo, and learned much.

Today, Levy approached that data set from another angle, looking at the best (and worst) producers in the league for each offensive outcome (that gets tracked by mySynergySports.com). If that sounds interesting to you, I highly recommend heading over there to check out the rankings (making sure to have the league averages in mind), but I'll share a few of the interesting Knicks results here:

Open Playoff Thread: 5/22/12

Photo

Evening, friends! The playoffs are starting to thin out and we've now reached one-game-a-weeknight (or none, sometimes) territory. I'll miss the entire PMs of basketball, but at least we should see some better games from here on out. Tonight's should be a gem. The game and the blogs at which you can read about it:

8:00: TNT: Indiana Pacers (Indy Cornrows) vs. Miami Heat (Peninsula Is Mightier)- Game Five (Series tied 2-2)

Big game! And they're all mad at each other and stuff! I'm very excited. I'm also not really rooting for one team or the other. Something about these Pacers annoys me, and I don't hate the Heat nearly as much as a lot of y'all do (or as much as I did last season). There also might be a part of me that would feel better if the Knicks' humiliating first round loss didn't come at the hands of a team that went on to get eliminated in the next round. I'm small like that.

Anyway, comment along here if you're watching, butlease don't post any illegal streams and don't be mean to each other. <3

Iman Shumpert was named to the All-Rookie First Team.

Photo

Hey, cool! The NBA All-Rookie teams were just announced, and the foremost of those teams includes our beloved Iman Shumpert. Here are the full teams, if you're interested:

First Team: Kyrie Irving, Ricky Rubio, Kenneth Faried, Klay Thompson, Iman Shumpert, Kawhi Leonard, Brandon Knight

Second Team: Chandler Parsons, Isaiah Thomas, MarShon Brooks, Derrick Williams, Tristan Thompson

I suppose there are seven people on the first team because the last three guys were tied with 40 voter points? No idea. This doesn't really mean anything, of course, and people will have their objections to the voting, but whatever. Particularly since he got left out of the Rookie-Sophomore game, it's lovely to see Iman get recognition for being good at sports. I suppose it's also a testament to how much he improved throughout the season. Here's a cool li'l fact from Alan Hahn about Shump's selection after Landry Fields made the First Team last season.

Congratulations on the selection, Shump. Have yourself a celebratory chimichanga or something, then please get right back to rehabilitating your knee.

Here is the lineup for the Knicks' first pre-draft workout.

Photo

I mentioned in the links below that the Knicks' first pre-draft workout is tomorrow and will include Tu Holloway of Xavier. Well, now we've got the full lineup. Here, via Al Iannazzone, is the group coming in tomorrow:

Tu Holloway (6'0" PG, Xavier)

Scoop Jardine (6'2" G, Syracuse)

Khris Middleton (6'7" F, Texas A&M)

John Shurna (6'9" F, Northwestern)

Michael Eric (6'11" C, Temple)

Bernard James (6'10" C, Florida State)

Our friend viva_morrison is going to start profiling prospects very soon since I know nothing about college basketball players. Some things about these guys, though:

- All of them except Middleton are coming out as seniors and are 22+ years old. (Update: James is 27 and a serviceman.)

- This is John Shurna. Our resident Northwestern expert, Rodger Sherman, says he's probably not even second round material, but I want him in New York for obvious reasons.

- I have never heard of Michael Eric and Bernard James, but I assume they are promising players because they both have two first names. (Khris Middleton also has an edge for a woefully misspelled name. Scoop Jardine, meanwhile...)

- Holloway and James are the only two projected to get drafted by DX, for whatever that's worth.

Cool! I love pre-draft season and, in a way, it's more fun when the Knicks don't have a top pick. This'll be the first of very many workouts populated by all sorts of zany characters.

Open Playoff Thread: 5/21/12

Oooh yes. Good evening, friends. I'm excited for tonight's back-to-back ballgames. I'm excited because they should be good games, and I'm excited because they shouldn't run nearly as late as the games did the last two nights. I'm hoping to end my streak of 4 AM couch wake-ups at two. Here are tonight's generously scheduled games and the blogs at which you can read about them:

7:00: TNT: Philadelphia 76ers (Lubberly Bawlums) vs. Boston Celtics (Selmicks Borg)- Game Five (Series tied 2-2)

9:30: TNT: Los Angeles Lakers (Sliver Squeem Unrole) vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (Welgum 2 Lout's Titty) - Game Five (Thunder lead 3-1)

I'll be rooting HARD for the Sixers because I despise those Celtics and I think I'll be rooting for the Lakers to extend the series or at least make a game of it, just because I want there to be as much basketball as possible. Comment along here if you're watching. Please don't post links to illegal streams. Enjoy!
