We can't do anything right.

It was the perfect night to skip out on the Knick game. The calls for Isiah Thomas' head had gotten vicious and precipitated into a full-on protest. The Cavs were in town, and LeBron was sure to bring his meanest game to snuff out the lowly Knicks. I was home for the first night, and ready to get out and see some old friends. Conditions were perfect.

Then I checked the score at halftime, you know, to assess the damage. It wasn't that bad. They were only down by thir----WAIT A SECOND...THEY WERE UP! The Knicks were up by thirteen! They'd dropped 63 points in a half! David Lee was already approaching a double-double!

Lo and behold, the Knicks went on to thoroughly smoke the Cavs, 108-90. Lee went for 22 and 11, Q got hot from downtown, Crawford and Randolph were efficient from the field, and Nate dunked. Meanwhile, LeBron and Mike Brown were beefing.

I should have known. On a night when Derrick Rose played the best game of his young career, when the Garden was finally ready to bring the axe down on Isiah, when people like me had given up watching, the Knicks pulled out their best performance of the year. Figures. This team is incapable of making progress. We can't even be a laughingstock properly.

Now to a crazy, impossible idea: What if Isiah stays and the Knicks turn things around from here and win 10 straight? What if they finish above .500? What if they make the playoffs? How are we going to reconcile the amount of grief we've given the team with newfound success? That'd be a pretty awkward relationship between the fans, Isiah, and the team. I do think that last night's win was a product of the players' feeling disrespected by Zeke and by the fans. But what if that lasts? Can a team make a turnaround by playing in spite of their coach? My head hurts!

So, you've been given a couple paragraphs of terribly-used past tense and one paragraph entirely composed of questions. Now give me your thoughts. I know it's just one win, but it's a pretty damn bedeviling one. Leave it in the comments.

It's too early...
... to talk about a turnaround.  The biggest problem with this team is it's inconsistency.  They look great against good teams, but then they could go to Charlotte (next up) and lose to an "inferior" team (like they did when they lost to the Sonics).

Then again, the Blazers were worse than the Knicks, sitting on 4-12 record (.250%), looking like a second straight #1 wasn't out of the question.  All of a sudden, an 8-game winning streak has them talking playoffs.  Sh*t can turn around at anytime, I guess.

Now would be a good time for that to happen to the Knicks....

i always do this
considering all of our high hopes for this season we've gotten to the point where any win we all feel amazing and like things r turning around. yet if they go 2 charlotte and lose by 16 no1 will b shocked. until they roll of 2 straight wont feel confident. as far as zeke goes i still feel he needs 2 go regardless, so much has been done and theirs been such a blatant disgust for the man i dont think the relationship can b repaired and the knicks should look in another direction regardless. AND PLAY BALKKKKKKKKK.

you crazy!
are you really thinking about playoffs after one win?  You have got to be kidding me.  Yeah they played hard because they felt dissed (which they deserved to be) but it won't last.  They don't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

lol
he didn't say he was thinking about them making playoffs, but if they go on a 10 game winning streak, it's something to think about.

no no no
Didn't mean to actually imply this was a possiblity. Hence the "crazy impossible" caveat. I was just saying that'd be a ridiculous circumstance with which I'm not at all prepared to cope. It'd be funny in a sick way.

I don't in any way think the Knicks are turning shit around.

NOT CRAZY
Whats wrong with a little wishful thinking?  i mean look at portland they just won 9 in a row after losing a couple. Charlotte will be a big game tho 2 in a row will definitley be a plus.

FIRE ISIAH! KNICKS PROTEST & WALKOUT GETS STRONGER!

It is a pleasure to announce that admired and highly influential Norman Siegel, New York City's most successful Civil Rights Attorney has endorsed his support to the FIRE ISIAH! KNICKS PROTEST & WALKOUT on 12/30/2007 at 11:00 AM in front of MSG.

Mr. Siegel was the Director of the New York Civil Rights Union until he decided to run for public office. He currently has his own private practice in NYC. He has written numerous op-ed columns for newspapers such as The Times, Newsday, and The Daily News as well as the Amsterdam News. He is also a Teacher and a Board Member of many foundations.

He was a member of the PINK SLIP RALLY on Weds. 12/19/2007. Mr. Siegel has been a fan for over 40 years and played basketball back in High School. His personal motivation is to get inserted into the Knicks line-up to help the team overall with point guard duties.

Any and all Knick fans who ever complained about this organization, it's leadership or team need to show their support towards this cause.

Don't let the nay Sayers be right when they say, "Knick Fans will never come together and voice their opinions. They don't care that much about their team" I say "They are ALL wrong!

Show your support. Step Up, Be Heard!
