Game Thread: Knicks vs. Pistons- 4-9-07

What's up, kids? I'll tell you what's up. The Knicks are back at the Garden tonight to take on the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons are da shit in the East, and spanked Cleveland last night, but have looked vulnerable against the Knicks this season (anyone remember that 3OT game? Boo-yah!) With a depleted lineup, pretty much every scorer, from Billups to Hamilton to Sheed poses a matchup problem. Should be interesting to watch. I kinda wanna see Curry shoot 15 threes. Just to see what happens. Either way, look for Eddy to try to continue his dominance against a tougher team.

Anyway, I'll be around tonight for the game thread and some good ol' game notes. It's been awhile. Come join me for the game thread and give out some suggestions for Mardy Collins' nickname (Barnesgasm provided MC Lyte, which is a very good prospect). This is a game thread, so post any comments about the game, sun glasses, eye glasses, shot glasses, and watch glasses as the night goes on. I'll be back later with the aforementioned game notes. Go Knicks. Peace.

#33, The Captain, PA-TRICK EWING!
Sweet interview (You can imagine it, Mase). I like how Al Trautwig called Patrick Ewing Jr. "Patrick" even though Patrick Ewing was right there.

dammit
i didnt get to see it because:
a) im at work
b) theres no tv here
c) even if there was a tv here, they wouldnt have MSG

i got to see pat jr play two years here at IU (i can find a way to bring up IU in 95% of my posts).  i used to wear my knicks #33 ewing jersey to the home games.  people used to get pissed because i wasnt wearing red.  fuck them.

Aaaaaand the collapse.
So inevitable its almost comforting at this point.

Word.
Almost as inevitable as the forthcoming semi-comeback.

Fuck the zone defense, by the way. Pussies.

DON'T CALL IT A COMEBACK!

I never check either
Of the 9 players on my roster, I had 8 injuries, including Shawn Livingston and his replacement on my team, Jorge Garbajosa. Lets just say my team dropped out of the playoff picture.

by Barnesgasm on Apr 9, 2007 9:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah..
Same deal for me. I had Zach Randolph and Joe Johnson, among others. I think I've kept Esteban Batista on my roster the whole year too. You never know when the Uruguayan Shaq is gonna blossom.

I think he should be Kelvin "The Bottomless Fucking Pit of Gloom and Despair" Cato. Its catchy. And if it doesn't work, theres always Steve Francis to apply it to.

hmmm
ive been watching this one on and off, but its just so strange. the personnel we have, the quality of our opponent, all these variables seem to have NO effect on our chances of winning. its truly bizarre. also, im at college in ann arbor so I'm getting the pistons announcers for this game. we should thank our lucky stars for mike, gus, clyde, and kenny. these guys SUCK. analysis is basically non-existent, and when it comes its totally facile (like "For the Knicks to win, they should pound it in to their big man, Eddy Curry!"). it's like listening to two bandwagon Pistons fans. "Man, that was a great swat by Tayshaun!" "Wow, isn't Chauncey good at backing down the 5'9" Nate Robinson?" "Hamilton scored 51 last time he was year!" Seriously, it's like a press release from the Pistons' Politburo.

One thing I like about Breen and Clyde is that their definitely not homers. (Sometimes to a fault, in Breen's case).

Indiana
No need to respond to any Michigan insults.

Some people are probably just upset cause their once elite program (Indiana basketball) is now pretty mediocre, while our flagship program (Michigan football) still rocks the house.

fun fact
penn state has been to a sweet 16 since michigan last made a tourney appearance.  yes, penn state basketball.  the only time UM was any good was when they fuckin cheated.

im also an ND football fan but i shouldnt tell you that cause that would provide too much ammo.

Ewing with the step...YES! and the foul!

that was a non-response
i never made any claims about our basketball program.

we suck. we suck balls.

but at least we've got one elite program. you know, the one that took out Indiana the last 15 years in a row (40-9 overall).

by riise on Apr 9, 2007 9:57 PM EDT up reply actions

yes but
5 championships ranks 2nd only to ucla and kentucky.  and i can be proud of the fact that IU never had any sanctions...they did it the right way.

youre right that IU bball has been down, but i think they took some steps in the right direction this year.  maybe when gordon comes, IU will be back.  and maybe IU football will go to the insight bowl someday.

btw i have tickets to ND/michigan at the big house this fall.  ill be the guy with the autury denson jersey on and probably the black eye/bloody nose.
