Really?
Dilemma: Say you're an NBA general manager. It's September and training camp's coming soon. Only problem is that you have 17 players on your roster and need to pare that number down to 15 in the upcoming weeks. But who to cut? Just about every candidate is either too promising or too expensive to be sent packing. What's the solution?
If you answered "fuck it all and chase after the 36 year-old skeleton of your former overpaid knee-less shooting guard", then you are correct!
This just doesn't make sense. Hopefully Allan Houston doesn't feel the same loyalty to the Knicks that they evidently feel towards him. Free Demetris.

Does he think we're retarded?
The Knicks have at least three or four better alternatives to Allan Houston. Allan would serve no practical purpose on our team.
I won't just go like "hey! I remember that guy!" and cheer. Although that does happen if you wave shiny objects in front of my face.

Doubful...
The newspaper beat writers are just doing their job, and sucking up to Dolan by pretending the Knicks are really interested, instead of pointing out that it is just a ploy....
