Monday Spectacled Bears

Good afternoon, everyone. Hope the weather's as nice around you as it is up here. The Knicks got their first win in a while last night, and play again tomorrow night in Detroit. In the meantime, let's get to some links.

  • First and foremost, immense congratulations to Patrick Ewing for his induction into the Hall of Fame. The Knicks website has a fantastic spread up, including a great piece addressing Ewing's legacy.
  • You think you've heard all the dirt in Stephon Marbury? Well, have you heard it in the form of poetry?
  • You might say that Quentin Richardson has a basketboner for Derrick Rose.
  • Via With Leather, James Dolan is salving the wounds of a lottery-bound season with the world's greatest tincture: FREE FOOD!!!111 If anyone's at the season closer against Boston, grab me a couple dozen bags of Reese's Pieces.
  • A lot of people are calling Mark Jackson the answer for the Knick coaching job, and Patrick Ewing appears to be one of them.
  • Marc Berman's got a got a big thumb up his ass about Nate Robinson's late-game dunk last night. SBN friend and Magic fan Ben Q Rock didn't think it was a big deal.
  • Barnesgasm checks in with a thoughtful, emotional beast of a post on the legacy of Stephon Marbury. Highly recommended.
  • Update: This just in: New York Magazine is reporting that the Knicks suck.
That is all for today. I'm gonna get outside and enjoy this beautiful weather. Peace peace peace.

ewing
is it a coincidence that the knicks haven't won a playoff game since he left town?

i hope all the knicks "fans" that complained about him and ran him out of town in 2000 are happy now.

i hear a lot about willis reed, bill bradley, earl monroe and walt frazier.  while i wasn't alive to see them, i can't regard any of them as the greatest knicks ever when they were surrounded by Hall of Famers.  just imagine how many championships ewing would have won if he even had a perennial all-star on his roster?

Ewing with the step...YES! and the foul!

Couldn't agree more
I'm not old enough either to have experienced theose great teams of the '70s, but I am old enough to have fully experienced and appreciated the Ewing era.  I don't know if it's out of convenience or short memory, but people seem to forget that Ewing's 15 years here weren't always rosy.  Still the man perservered and made this team into a perennial powerhouse.  Cheers to you, Patrick!  If only we could get there again.
