The latest WNBA promo will be aired during the 2011 NBA All-Star game on Sunday and features Sue Bird, Kevin Durant, and Dwight Howard. You can see the commercial and more thoughts on it at SBN Seattle at the link above, but the early returns are not positive if you believe Darren Rovell's Twitter feed (see tweets here, here, and here). We can Expect Great Mockery anytime the NBA mainstream is forced to confront the WNBA, but what do you think about this commercial: both a) the inclusion of NBA players and b) the decision to air it during the All-Star game?

The WNBA has announced its participants in the 2011 Haier Shooting Stars competition during NBA All-Star weekend in Los Angeles. Los Angeles Sparks forward Tina Thompson, Atlanta Dream guard Coco Miller, Chicago Sky forward Cathrine Kraayeveld, and San Antonio Silver Stars wing Roneeka Hodges are the participants. Hodges is on the defending champion Team Texas squad. More details (and apparently an account of all the past Shooting Stars teams) from Inside Hoops at the link above and the following from a WNBA release: Haier Shooting Stars will be televised live nationally as part of the NBA All-Star Saturday Night presented by State Farm, which will also feature the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest, Sprite Slam Dunk, Taco Bell Skills Challenge, and NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas. TNT and ESPN Radio’s national coverage will begin at 8 p.m. EST from Staples Center. The NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 20, will air live on TNT, ESPN Radio and in more than 200 countries and will be broadcast in more than 40 languages.
