Alan Hahn's on his Knicks beat game today, with two draft-related stories to share. The first is the workout list for tomorrow and Wednesday:
Walsh and his staff will bring in six players on Tuesday to MSG’s Westchester campus for a workout. The lineup includes Syracuse guard Jonny Flynn and North Carolina guard Ty Lawson, along with Toney Douglas (Florida State), Tywain McKee (Coppin State), Dante Cunningham (Villanova) and Leo Lyons (Missouri).
After that, it's the big names:
The Knicks will get a close-up look at Curry on Wednesday when he comes to the MSG Training Center in Greenburgh for his predraft workout. Curry will be joined by UCLA guard Jrue Holiday, whom the Knicks are also very interested in, as well.
Hahn's also got the scoop on a Sergio Rodriguez rumor surfacing from overseas:
The story doesn't explain any detail of the deal and is mainly about how Rodriguez, who we know is unhappy with his role in Portland, would love to play in New York. What we don't know is how he gets here with a contract that has one year left at $1.8M (perfect for the Knicks short-term, cost-effective goals) before he becomes a restricted free agent.
Clearly, if this is remotely accurate, there will be other principles in the deal. We know the Knicks have had their eye on Rodriguez all season and have had discussions with Portland about him and Travis Outlaw (going in to his final year at $4M). Those talks involved David Lee, but Lee can not be traded on draft night.
Tomorrow we'll look over the workout results and find out who turned heads. Gotta believe that the Sergio rumors are merely some wily Spaniards jumping the gun, but you never know...
