If Donnie Walsh were hiring a GM, that GM would be Chris Mullin.

Frank Isola of the Daily News reports:

Donnie Walsh confirmed today that Chris Mullin is his choice to become Knicks general manager and possibly his successor.

"If I could hire anybody Chris would be the guy," Walsh told The News. "That's who I want."

That's an interesting admission for Walsh to make, especially given that 1. He's ostensibly not hiring and 2. There have been previous indications that Allan Houston or some other current member of the front office would be Walsh's eventual successor. Meanwhile, Marc Berman notes that Mullin is quite familiar with a number of current Knicks.

Anyway, this doesn't appear to be a pressing concern, but it's something to file away.
