Game Thread: Knicks vs. Mavericks- 11/9/12

The Knicks and Mavericks face at 7:30 PM in New York.

Chris Trotman

Good evening! Time for basketball! After three full days off, the Knicks are back home to face the 4-1 Dallas Mavericks. Dallas has accrued that record sans Dirk Nowitzki, and they'll be without Shawn Marion tonight. Elton Brand has returned and should be starting at power forward. As of right now, we're not sure if Mike Woodson will change New York's starting lineup to match that size. I hope he doesn't.

I'm excited and nervous as well. The Knicks' defense should get even better with Marcus Camby involved, but the Mavs have been a sharp offensive team so far, and they're shooting the three even better than the Knicks are. That backcourt of Darren Collison and O.J. Mayo is just killing folks. (Dallas's three-point defense has also been quite good, so let's see if the Knicks can still get those shots off.)

Oh, and it's Friday night, and even a season-opening win over the Heat hasn't erased my fear of the "Friday Night Knicks" curse. There's gonna be a letdown eventually, and I'm worried it's gonna be tonight. I'm gonna say this every game until they lose.

On the other hand, red white and blue headbands.

This is your game thread. This is Mavs Moneyball. Please don't post illegal streams or big photos/.gifs and please be kind to one another. Go Knicks!
