Carmelo Anthony will not play in Sacramento.

New, comments

He'll miss a second straight game with a hyper-extended knee.

USA TODAY Sports

Allow me to walk you through my intake of and response to Carmelo Anthony injury updates this afternoon.

1.

No melo tonight.

Okay. Smart move. No reason for Melo to push himself against the Kings. I just hope the Knicks aren't hiding or missing something major.

2.

Melo said he could barely walk yesterday.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH IT'S ALL OVER 21-61 LOTTERY HERE WE COME AAAAAAAHHHHHHH

3.

Carmelo Anthony says he has no structural damage in his knee. Hopes to play New Year's Day.

HHHHH-- Oh, okay. Okay. That's reassuring kinda.

4.

Anthony said after Lakers game his knee swelled up on flight to Phoenix. Still hoping for Jan. 1.

A little eerie, but okay.

5.

Carmelo Anthony is walking well it seems. Says he shouldn't have played in 2nd half against LA.

Dammit, Melo. Dammit, Knicks. Gotta take care of ourselves, y'all.

In conclusion: Smart move. No reason for Melo to push himself against the Kings. I just hope the Knicks aren't hiding or missing something major.

Update: One more: The Knicks still aren't planning an MRI, as is their wont. A relatively clean MRI would make me feel so much better right now, but whatever.
