This has already been linked in the Fanshots (thanks Chairman Meow!), but I figured I'd get it on the front page for those of you who missed it. Saturday Night Live's cold open last night was this sketch featuring Bill Hader, Kenan Thompson, Jay Pharoah, and Taran Killam playing a desk of sports anchors (doesn't seem like they're supposed to be anybody in particular) chatting about Jeremy Lin and the Knicks.
The gag here, which seems on point (and particularly topical right now), is that commentators in various media have become far too comfortable with making a joke of Lin's race. The execution of said gag is...well, I'll leave that to you to decide. From reading Twitter and internet comments this morning, I've come to understand that my opinion of the sketch isn't the popular one.
Incidentally, this isn't the first time the Knicks have been on SNL in a little while. Carmelo Anthony actually made an appearance in that "Laser Cats: The Musical" sketch last season (which is the current frontrunner for the reason Melo's afraid of cats).
Anyway, take the jump for last night's sketch!
Thoughts?
