Despite scoring 29 points and hitting some absurd shots, Derrick Rose had a pretty rough afternoon when the Bulls lost to the Knicks on Sunday. In his return from a groin injury, Rose shot just 8-26, turned the ball over eight times, and missed crucial free throws in regulation and both of his attempts to win the game at the buzzer. Iman Shumpert can be thanked for much of the above, and I even like to imagine that he somehow influenced Rose's missed free throws with, I dunno, a menacing stare or something.
Anyway, that's not all that went wrong for Rose on Sunday. From K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune:
Rose, for starters, tweaked an ankle at some point in Sunday's game, which he finished. The extent of the injury is unknown, however sources said Rose wore a walking boot on Monday and his availability for Tuesday's shot at redemption against the Knicks is a game-time decision.
So, I guess we'll see. I was kind of looking forward to seeing Shump get another shot at Rose (and vice versa), but I suppose we should be rooting for him to sit. In any event, the Bulls will be pissed off and in their own building (that is, unless Carmelo Anthony decides to claim the United Center as his "house" as well), and they're pretty deadly even without Rose.
Tip-off's at 9:30 tonight, by the way. I have no idea why. (Update: It's because it's the ESPN late game. I knew this. Still, WHY!?)
