Hey cool! It'd been rumored (even reported as fact in some places) for a while that Jeremy Lin would be included on this year's USA Men's Select Team, the squad of youngsters assembled as stand-in adversaries for the US Team's pre-Olympic training. The full roster was just announced and, indeed, Lin is among those selected to get stomped on by Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler, and the rest of the elders (The real team kicks the shit out of the Select Team, right? Can we watch these games please?). Here's the full roster:

Named to the 2012 USA Basketball Select squad were: Ryan Anderson (Orlando Magic / California); DeJuan Blair (San Antonio Spurs / Pittsburgh); DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings / Kentucky); DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors / USC); Derrick Favors (Utah Jazz / Georgia Tech); Paul George (Indiana Pacers / Fresno State); Taj Gibson (Chicago Bulls / USC); Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz / Butler); Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers / Duke); Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio Spurs / San Diego State); Jeremy Lin (New York Knicks / Harvard); Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors / Washington State); and Wall (Washington Wizards / Kentucky).

Good company. Lin will join that group in Las Vegas from July 5 to July 12 for the training camp and whatnot.

Congratulations to Jeremy, who was the second Knick ever to get picked for the Select team (this is only the second time they've done this, and David Lee got picked the first time around. Two for two!). Training with the Olympians should be a wonderful experience. It'll likely be Lin's only chance to visit Vegas/play blackjack/raze buffet tables/get accosted by prostitutes this summer, since he doesn't plan to participate in Summer League.
