Hey, here's a little thing I found. Sportando Basket, a fine source for basketball news from abroad, reports that the Knicks are going to work out Salah Mejri, a 7'1", 26 year-old (today! Happy birthday, Salah!) center from Tunisia on Monday. From Sportando:
Tunisian big Salah Mejri (7-foot-1), who was scheduled to play with the New York Knicks at the NBA's Las Vegas Summer League, will attend a workout with N.Y. on June 18, but won’t be part of their Vegas squad.
If Mejri doesn’t land a deal with the Knicks prior to when the summer league's kickoff, he will join the Utah Jazz as part of their Orlando Summer League team, from July 9-12. Then, Mejri will fly out to Spain and land on the morning of a pre-Olympics exhibition game between Spain and Tunisia, on July 13.
Mejri is a member of the Tunisian national team and has been playing pro ball in Belgium for the last two years. It's not clear whether this is a private workout or merely an invitation to one of the Knicks' usual group workouts.
I can't find much good video of the guy besides this weird handshake fight, but here's what he looks like, here's his Facebook thing and here's his Wikipedia page. Oh, and the Knicks have apparently been scouting him for quite some time. I know nothing else about the guy (though Sportando says he was All-Belgian League and Defensive Player of the Year, which is good), but will nonetheless throw my full support behind the signing of an unknown 7-foot Tunisian. There's no doubt in my mind that that's an EXCELLENT idea, regardless of how the workout goes.
