Isola: Iman Shumpert had secret summertime knee surgery, too (and more trade rumors)

Oh, the Knicks.

Maddie Meyer

This doesn't matter *that* much at this point, since Iman Shumpert has been playing a lot and appears healthy enough these days, but Frank Isola just reported yet another bit of Knicks medical intel (via Jon) that wasn't announced when it happened:

Iman Shumpert had a second left knee operation over the summer, the Daily News has learned and it is unclear if the unreported surgery could impact his trade value with the desperate Knicks trying to package Shumpert in a number of proposed deals including one for Boston's Rajon Rondo.

According to a source, Shumpert had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee last July that the Knicks never reported.

Yes, the same Knicks who never announced Amar'e Stoudemire's summertime knee surgery. Yes, the same Knicks who were cagey about J.R. Smith's knee surgery during Summer League. Looking back, this may explain why Shump sat out a lot of training camp scrimmage stuff.

Isola wonders how it might affect the Knicks' attempts to trade Iman. He specifically mentions the faded Kenneth Faried rumor, the more recent Sacramento Kings rumor (Isola mentions Jason Thompson, because Thompson's a CAA guy), and the long-rumored attempts to pry Rajon Rondo from the Celtics (for a package including Raymond Felton and Amar'e Stoudemire...which I can't imagine the Celtics doing).

So there's that. We already knew the Knicks were shady as hell. We already knew they were trying to trade Shumpert. Now we know Shumpert's previously torn-up knee got even more surgery a few months ago.
