Well, yeah, that was gonna happen. J.R. Smith ain't Melo, and...ya know, even if he was, the Thunder probably still would have rolled. They're a lot better than the Knicks. A lot a lot better. New York kept pace early with some splendid ball movement, but they unraveled promptly without any ability whatsoever to defend anything the Thunder did. OKC got whatever they wanted in the pick-and-roll and on fast breaks. It was like watching the Knicks play any other team, just more so. I didn't even bat an eyelash, I'm afraid.
Even in a game like that, the minutes were kinda frustrating. J.R. Smith spun for 38. Tyson Chandler played an unnecessary 29. Amar'e Stoudemire hit 27 just days after missing a game because of knee soreness (but put up NUMBERS! 22 on 10-16).
At least we got some nice scoring from Tim Hardaway Jr., some (fruitless) stretches of Toure' Murry, and...
CHRIS SMITH! IT'S A CHRIS SMITH MIRACLE! MERRY CHRIS SMITH TO ONE AND ALL!
But for real, Merry Christmas. Have a lovely evening and don't worry about the Knicks.
