I haven't exactly kept this under wraps, but now that it's actually happening, here's the announcement:
We wrote a book!
"We" are me, Jim Cavan, Robert Silverman, and Mike Kurylo from Knickerblogger, Dan Litvin from KnicksFan.net, Jared Dubin from Hardwood Paroxysm, Jake Appleman from a lot of places, Jason Concepcion a.k.a @netw3rk, and Jamie O'Grady, formerly of the LoHud Knicks Blog. The book also features an introduction by the eminent Will Leitch and exquisite illustrations by P&T's very own Norman Hathaway (you know him as normanhathaway).
Our book is called We'll Always Have Linsanity: Strange Takes on the Strangest Season in Knicks History. It is a quasi-chronological anthology of essays, conversations, and other nonsense reflecting on (and in a few cases coming directly from) the 2011-2012 Knicks season-- the lockout, the stunted offseason, the injuries, Mike D'Antoni's demise, Mike Woodson's emergence, Jeremy Lin's ridiculous February, and all the zaniness in between. My contributions as an author centered primarily around said zaniness-- I wrote some new, short essays about guys like Josh Harrellson and Renaldo Balkman who made sure the cracks in a very weird team were filled with even more weirdness.
Anyway, the Knickerblogger bros and I spent the better part of a year working with our publisher to assemble WAHL, and I'm delighted to announce the thing is finally available for digital download if you've got a Kindle (I'll find out about versions for the other eBook things. I'm not sure). The print copies-- which can be pre-ordered-- are already getting churned out and should also be available very, very soon.
I'm likely to keep annoying y'all about this for the foreseeable future. For now, here are a few things to consume if you'd like to learn more about the book and its authors:
- Some of the authors are meeting up before tonight's game and you're invited to join them.
- An excerpt from J-Doobz and an example of Norman's beautiful artwork.
- Another one of Mike's (totally nonfictional) ridiculous promo videos.
- Doobz and @netw3rk on the Eye on Basketball Podcast with Zach Harper. This is very great.
- Some otters, all of whom have read the book.
There's the book. I think you might enjoy it!
