Hey, this is cool. It'd been rumored for a little while that Bernard King would finally get his Hall of Fame induction this year, and the news from today's announcements confirmed it. King, who played (very well, they tell me) for the Knicks from 1982 to 1987, will be inducted in September, presumably for his basketball-playing and not for his viscous, chuckling color commentary. Rick Pitino (who's busy today but used to coach the Knicks, they tell me) will join King in this year's induction class, while Knick legend Richie Guerin (1956-63) will be one of five "Direct Elects".

As one of many despicable younglings around P&T, I encourage those of y'all who actually remember King (and Guerin!) to share your memories in this thread. I'm going to spend some time this afternoon paging back through Alan Hahn's books and bouncing around YouTube for highlights of these fine gentlemen, but I'd love to hear more from you guys.
