Recall that Amar'e Stoudemire will head to Israel at the end of next month as an assistant coach for Canada in the Maccabiah Games. Yeah! Well, while Amar'e's there, it sounds like he might have some business attend to. The Jerusalem Post reports (based on a couple tweets) that Amar'e has joined a group bidding to buy Israeli club Hapoel Jerusalem (home team of the beloved Noam Schiller, current employer of guys like Craig Smith and Jacob Pullen).
So, cool. We've watched Amar'e grow really enamored with and involved in Israeli enterprises, and I imagine his support boosts the chances of the prospective purchaser (a group led by a man named Ori Allon) quite a bit. One hopes first and foremost that Amar'e can stay healthy and hone his game over the summer, but this seems like an exciting side project and I wish him the best. All I want is for Amar'e Stoudemire to be happy.
