Isola: Amar'e Stoudemire had his knee cleaned out in July

Unsurprising.

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

This person was kinda right! Frank Isola reports that Amar'e Stoudemire went under the knife in July to get one (not sure which) of his knees cleaned out:

According to a Knicks source, Stoudemire had an unreported surgical procedure in July to repair one of his ailing knees. The Knicks open camp on Tuesday and have yet to announce that Stoudemire has had a third knee operation in 12 months. The surgery was described as "clean up" and isn't considered major.

This changes, well...nothing? We already heard about capped minutes and limited training camp burn and possible exclusion from back-to-backs, and an unreported minor surgery only increases that likelihood.

Amar'e's knees are shit and they require frequent maintenance. It is, as Isola notes and as well all know, still pretty weird that the Knicks keep stuff like this (and J.R. Smith's much more involved knee surgery) under wraps for so long, but no surprises there. TRAINING CAMP SOON.
