Berman: Jose Calderon could debut this weekend, too

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

We heard Andrea Bargnani might make his season debut Saturday against the 76ers. Marc Berman reports Jose Calderon might join him. The Knicks have two off days to appraise their readiness:

The Knicks don't officially practice Thursday, but Calderon and Bargnani are expected to conduct a 3-on-3 scrimmage with Derek Fisher bringing in some of the younger guys to participate. Friday's practice will feature a full-blown scrimmage after which it will be determined whether Calderon's calf and Bargnani's hamstring injuries are history.

That would be nice! The Knicks offense could certainly use its point guard, and all the better if he's got a day or two of scrimmages behind him. I'm not sure at this point that full health will do much for the Knicks' chances of winning games -- defense remains a thing -- but introducing a talented passer/elite shooter to the rotation should allow them to stretch their legs a bit more in the Triangle offense.

I'm sure we'll hear more after practice Friday. In the meantime...Timberwolves tonight at 8, and, speaking of another injury, we've no reason (yet) to believe Carmelo Anthony will sit out because of his knee soreness.
