The Knicks just won a must-win game in splendid fashion over the Brooklyn Nets. Assuming the Chicago Bulls will beat the Atlanta Hawks (Bulls are up nine with a minute to play), the Knicks will be half a game out of eighth place.
'Twas a totally balanced effort for the Knicks tonight. The score would lead you to believe that they defended the Nets competently, but really, the Knicks' offense was so piping hot in this one, it was almost all they needed to win the game. That'll happen when you shoot 60% from the field, 44% from downtown. J.R. Smith played -- probably -- his best game of the season, dropping in 24 points on 9-16 shooting to go with 8 boards and 6 assists. Carmelo Anthony, in a rare secondary role, contributed 23 points, too.
Three other Knicks scored in double-figures, too, and when the lead got up to 29, Woodson was comfortable with throwing in the bench bros to handle the rest of the game. And they didn't blow it, either.
Recap up later! Remember to be kind to one another, including any Nets folks that may swing by!
Update:
Bulls beat Hawks. Knicks half a game out of the playoffs are tied for 8th place!
