Update: The Knicks officially signed Galloway to another 10-day at noon on Saturday 1/17.
Rookie sensation and D-League graduate Langston Galloway is going to re-sign on another 10-day contract with New York following a sturdy presentation of wit and skill for the positively rudderless Knicks. In four games, Galloway is averaging nearly 25 minutes, and even scored 19 points in his home debut, which was the most since some neophyte named Patrick Ewing roamed the Garden. Shams Charania has the scoop:
Guard Langston Galloway is re-signing with the New York Knicks on a second 10-day deal, league source tells RealGM.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) January 17, 2015
Langston has brought some pop and vigor to a thoroughly drained Knick team that is trying to get a clear view of their future. It's nice to see someone who snaps into place with the Triangle and just digs deep giving every ounce of effort he can muster on both ends of the floor.
The young Knick has a chance to solidify himself in the rotation, especially with the front office looking to move contracts off the books for the 2015 free agency period. Galloway even got a bit of national attention as Punsata non grata on the the latest episode of The Starters "The Drop" Podcast. Langston was chosen in the pun-gun section of the show, where the crew tries to come up with as many puns of a randomly chosen NBA name. Quinary host Matt Osten could not put the gall away, nor slang a ton of puns, as per the norm.
Galloway and the Knicks next face the New Orleans Pelicans. As a native of Baton Rouge he will certainly be looking to make a mark in an effort to get signed for the rest of the season. This dude has been easy to root for, here's to hoping he can further his early success and latch on!
