New York Knicks point guard Jose Calderon left Friday night's contest with the Orlando Magic after banging knees with Elfrid Payton:
Knicks calling Calderon's left knee injury a contusion. Saying he won't return to the game tonight.

But what of the x-rays? Won't somebody please think of the x-rays?
X-Rays on Jose Calderon's left knee were negative.

That's good.
Of course, x-rays are far from conclusive, and the New York medical staff might have been staring at Calderon's knee with x-ray specs they found in a Cracker Jack box, so we'll have to wait and see.
Everybody knows the Knicks have precious few players signed for next season. What the events of Friday night's game presupposes is...what if they all had knee injuries? Star forward Carmelo Anthony continues to limp his way around the court with a knee injury which ensures he can't even jump higher than Zach Randolph. Rookie Cleanthony Early missed a big chunk of the season after undergoing knee surgery. And now Calderon.
That pesky joint connecting the thigh and lower leg continues to be this franchise's greatest nemesis.
