It's here. The whole reason it made sense for the Knicks to suck this season has arrived. The details are here. All you need to know now is sometime between 8:30 and 9, people on ESPN will tell us what pick the Knicks will have in the 2015 NBA Draft.
In my tummy, I'm terrified. A top draft pick is just about the best asset available, and the Knicks can use it to cheaply add someone who, if they choose well, could be a bedrock of the organization for the next decade. It would suck to have tanked that whole season only to end up watching other teams take the most prized guys off the board. This is a huge opportunity, and it's the best of its kind the Knicks have had since I've been alive.
In my head, I feel great. This draft will produce multiple very good players -- maybe even multiple very great ones -- and the Knicks should have a chance to grab one (or trade down for more than one?) anywhere from 1 to 5. In a sense, the luck has already been served and all that's left is to make a good choice, no matter what happens.
So try to relax and enjoy the weirdness of the lotto. Take one last spin at Tankathon. Mine didn't go so well:
... maybe yours will be better.
Good luck, Knicks! There will be a new post up as soon as I can muster.
P.S. Don't forget to take your envelopes out of the freezer!
