On one hand, it's fun to watch Knicks play in international competition. On the other hand, it's nerve-racking to see a Knick risk injury wearing another uniform, especially when he's 19 and kinda frail and hopefully the future of the franchise. On that note:
Kristaps Porzingis will not play Eurobasket for Latvia

Bummer, but understandable and probably Knicks-approved. That makes 0 Knicks currently under contract who'll play in EuroBasket, since Jose Calderon is sitting out for Spain. I don't think Louis Labeyrie will make the French roster either. However ...
Marc Gasol will not play for Spain at EuroBasket this fall. #Knicks draft-and-stash Willy Hernangomez (No. 35 pick) could see big minutes

With no Marc Gasol and no Ibaka (his spot went to Mirotic), Hernangomez, 21, should play a key role for Spain. Huge opportunity for him.

Willy! There's our guy to watch this September, and it sounds like there will be plenty of watching to be done.
(Austin Green is someone you should definitely follow for Willy updates, and you may soon be hearing from him in this space.)
