Roster cuts are a comin’ round the bend. JP Tokoto, Cleanthony Early and Damien Inglis are as good as gone, but the Knicks have a full 15 players signed to guaranteed deals, and two dudes (Ron Baker, Chasson Randle) who have each made a strong case to swipe spots.
Who stays and who goes? The P&T gives you their picks:
Seth
My final 15 would be:
Derrick Rose, Brandon Jennings, Sasha Vujacic, Chasson Randle, Ron Baker, Courtney Lee, Carmelo Anthony, Justin Holiday, Lance Thomas, Mindaugas Kuzminskas, Kristaps Porzingis, Joakim Noah, Kyle O'Quinn, Willy Hernangomez, Lou Amundson
Cut Maurice Ndour and Marshall Plumlee, but if you wanna keep Ndour and cut Sasha I'm OK with that too. Ndour just hasn't demonstrated a skill at this level of competition. I'd like to keep him just because he's pretty young and moldable but Amundson is better in my opinion.
Jonathan Schulman
Same as Seth, but I’d I want Ndour in place of Amundson. I get what Seth is saying about Ndour, but i feel like if the team came together he could offer more if he can catch up.
Matt Miranda
I just wanna see a ballsy move made, a la drafting Porzingis. Keep Randle. Keep Ron. Cut Sasha. I know they won't, but do it anyway. For the last spot, I’d get rid of Ndour.
Joe Flynn
I’d cut Plumlee and Amundson. It’s all about cutting the right guys, the guys who they can sneak through the clutches of other NBA teams and place on the Westchester roster. I doubt any team is going to give Plumlee a 15-man spot. I’d like to believe in Ndour and really hope they can find a way to get him regular playing time in Westchester. This kid messed up his knee in Mavericks camp last season, then moved to Spain while trying to come back from that injury. It was essentially a lost season for him. Give him some D-League minutes and see if he can be what we all saw in Summer League.
Christian Baber
I’d cut Ndour and Amundson. I realized as I was finalizing the list that I'm back aboard the O'Quinn hype train and I also love Hernangomez, so I wouldn't want anyone taking minutes from those guys. Plumlee probably won't this season, and might be a solid player.
