Knicks vs. Grizzlies preview: Willy Hernangomez takes on his idol, Kyle O’Quinn makes a promise

Also...will there be Ron?

NBA: Preseason-Brooklyn Nets at New York Knicks Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome back to Knicks basketball! The ‘Bockers crapped all over themselves in Cleveland, but that probably was to be expected. Can they play some less terrible basketball in their home opener against a Memphis Grizzlies team that has beaten them six times in a row?

Game time: 7:30 p.m.

Opponent: Memphis Grizzlies

Record: 1-0

Biggest change: No more Matt Barnes/Derek Fisher stories, thank God. Also they have a new coach and some new players, I guess

  • Will the Knicks’ D pay attention to the three-point line?

New York continued their preseason habit of completely ignoring three-point shooters, and — stop me if you’ve heard this before — the “ignore shooters” strategy didn’t pay off against Cleveland. But now they’re playing Memphis — ol’ Grit-n-Grind. No threes for them, right? This is the perfect matchup, right?

Still, Marc is a hero to the young Spanish big man; it would be a be a huge thrill for the kid to take the court for his first NBA home game and face off against one of his idols. Now if only Willy could steal Marc’s defensive powers ...

  • Will Kyle O’Quinn keep his promise?
  • Ron?

We can only hope.
