New York got blitzed early as Portland came out splashing everything. They were able to hang in there early on, in part due to some bucket-getting from Carmelo Anthony. The middle quarters brought some more spirited attacks and gallops with Brandon Jennings spearheading a raucous tempo that the Knicks seemed to enjoy. Then Kristaps Porzingis started throwing some meteors and he just overwhelmed the Blazer defenders.
Derrick Rose did his best to call his own number and incorporate a cold Melo down the stretch of the game. Porzingis’ touches dried up completely. Evan Turner started to look like his typical Knick-killer self. Thankfully Rose was able to create something out of his own broken plays and Mindaugas Kuzminskas pitched in with a huge three late.
Rose otherwise was fairly attentive on defense, which was a stark change. He makes the team play tighter (inside their assholes), and he can’t space the floor, so he probably doesn’t need to be on the court at the end of games when Porzingis is rolling and Jennings is being so generous. Unfortunately Jennings was cramping up. Nevertheless Knicks get the win. Check this stuff out:
Just watched Porzingis make a Tyson Tapback and three-pointer on the same possession. Dude is on the cusp of becoming a monster

Oh you gotta see at least the shot:
Willy Hernangomez made some bulbous blunders but he also bobbed and blipped some big beauties on the block.

While I really despised Rose’s late game decision making. He did toss in some critical buckets. None more packed with flavor than his hot taki.
slo-mo. #Knicks #NYKvsPOR

So that’s whats up. It’s a win and it counts! Everybody contributed pretty much, even Maurice Ndour got the team going a little bit in the first half. Matt Miranda’s got your recap. I’m Stingy and that’s news to you.
