Knicks 106, Timberwolves 104: Scenes from a reverse fake comeback

The Knicks had absolutely no solution for Karl-Anthony Towns. So they started shading completely off their guys and sending help almost before Towns even caught the ball. Still that razor-clawed menace lopped off his career high 47 points and snared 18 rebounds. The Timberwolves weren’t really clear on how to stop Kristaps Porzingis on the other end. So they mostly tried to give Derrick Rose some space to move around because they knew he would freeze Porzingis out.

Aw, I’m just kidding, right? Yea, nah. Thankfully Derrick outsmarted them by getting into foul trouble. Carmelo Anthony actually tried to dump this game in the garbage all night. So his game-winning isolation was a dastardly dad joke. Let’s check out some of the Knicks highlights. You ready?

Knicks came out blazing. Unfortunately Courtney Lee left early with an ankle sprain. X-Rays were negative and he should be fine.

Kristaps got one, so Towns raised him.

So obviously they had to settle this debate. They reached the summit and called it a draw.

That was just before half time. Knicks hung 58 on the T-Wolves (the Towns-wolves, if I may) in the first two frames. Porzingis held the team together with an array of runners, jumpers, bankers and spankers.

Mindaugas Kuzminskas hit some pivotal heaves, and Brandon Jennings weaved all over the floor keeping everyone in furs.

After a nice play call from Jeff Hornacek springing Justin Holiday free on the backdoor cut, here’s your dad joke of the month for November:

That’s a fake-comeback buster right there, buster. But there’s two seconds left! Plenty of time to catch, turn, one-dribble and pull up. Put that under your dad hat and smoke it, Minneapolis!

That’s how you do it, T-Wolves fans. Fake comeback complete. Next one is against- get this- Minnesota! Holy guacamole! I wonder if Kristaps and Towns will meet at the rim again? Tune in and find out!
