Latvian fans are supporting Kristaps Porzingis on the road

National icons like Kristaps deserve love.

Kristaps Porzingis is a sick boy. He was ill enough with a stomach bug to miss Sunday's contest with the Lakers, but there is another kind og sickness which I'm sure eats at him from time to time. I'm talking about home sickness. Surely he misses his native Latvia, with its lush forests and ample stork population.

That is why it has been so heartening to see Latvian fans coming out to support Kristaps in recent road games. First there was the lovely serenade in Boston:

Then there were Latvian flags waiting for him after New York's loss to the Clippers:

I've been in contact with Latvian MP and honorary P&T'er Ojārs Ēriks Kalniņš, who has heard rumblings of bigger Latvian crowds yet to come on this road trip.

I've learned that there will be 140 Latvians at the Wizards game in DC on March 19, and I think they are gearing up to create some excitement. (Bring three Latvians together and you get 4 political parties and one choir. But 140? Lets see what happens.

The Latvians are doing all they can to support Kristaps, even in the dog days of the 2015-16 season. We at P&T are hoping to find some genuine Latvian booster songs to learn, so that we can sing for our beloved rookie. We must join our Latvian brothers and sisters in song! Stay tuned for more info.
