The Knicks made Carmelo Anthony apologize for confronting stupid heckler, being a hero

You're good, Melo.

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Carmelo Anthony apologized Wednesday afternoon for telling a heckling fan to ask owner James Dolan for his money back during Tuesday night's loss to Portland. Yeah, I had to reread that first sentence five times myself ... and I wrote it. The Knicks are weird.

Statement!

And here is Melo recounting the incident after Tuesday's game, per Ian Begley:

"He kept calling my name, calling my name, saying, 'You guys suck, you guys suck,'" Anthony said after the Knicks' 19-point loss to Portland. "At that point, I was trying to gather myself, and I turned around. All I did was point at Dolan and told him, 'Look, the owner's right there. Ask for your money back.' He's calling me and telling me he's never coming to another game and we suck. Just don't want to hear that. I pointed to the owner and told him, 'You deal with that with him. Maybe you can get your money back.'"

Let's not mince words here: Carmelo Anthony is a goddamn hero who should not have to apologize for saying something awesome. Did John Paul Jones apologize to the British after saying, "I have not yet begun to fight"? Hell no!

Between this incident, the absurd "Jim-mer" chants and cheering almost exclusively for the Miami Heat on Sunday, the MSG crowds have been embarrassing of late. Yeah, the team sucks. The Knicks usually suck. Stop acting like jackasses.
