Have you heard the news? The Westchester Knicks are going to the playoffs!
Our boys from White Plains even had an outside chance of stealing the Atlantic Division title from the Maine Red Claws if they could win out. Sadly, that dream was dashed on Wednesday night, as they kicked off their game against the Ft. Wayne Mad Ants like a team with a playoff-clinching hangover. The Fightin' Dylan Murphys blitzed the W-Knicks for 32 first-quarter points and rode that hot start to a 98-91 win.
FUN FACT: The W-Knicks shot 1-17 from beyond the arc Wednesday. That's 6% from three. The vast majority of those misses came from Cleanthony Early (1-6) and Jimmer Fredette (0-6).
Highlights
Cleanthony Early
Jimmer Fredette
Jordan Bachynski
Travis Trice
Recent acquisition Keith Wright (26 minutes on Wednesday) continues to take playing time from the likes of Darion Atkins (13 minutes) and Thanasis Antetokounmpo (8 minutes). Wright is averaging 6.8 points on 56.9% shooting and 5.5 rebounds per game, so he's earned it.
The W-Knicks are officially locked into the fourth spot in the East. We're now just counting down the days until the playoffs begin! WOOOOOO!
