The Knicks are holding pre-draft workouts in hopes of acquiring a second-rounder

Yogi Ferrell, come on down!

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

While they remain the laughingstock of the basketball world thanks to their bizarre coaching search, the Knicks front office still has work to do in preparation for the 2016 NBA draft. You'll be happy to know that they are indeed doing work, despite not having a draft pick.

The team will hold a pre-draft workout -- the first one that we know of -- for Indiana guard Yogi Ferrell:

Ferrell will work out for the Knicks on June 10. He was a four-year starter at point guard for the Hoosier and a former McDonald's All-American. He's small (6'0") but athletic and quick with a decent jump shot. He is most decidedly not a prototypical Triangle guard. DraftExpress has him as the 66th-best prospect in this draft class.

The real news here is that the front office has started working out prospects and intends to acquire a pick. It shouldn't come as a surprise -- Phil Jackson's regime was working out prospects in 2014 before they acquired picks via the Tyson Chandler trade -- but the organization has been so damn flaky recently that nobody could be quite sure what the hell was going on. Hopefully Yogi Ferrell's workout will be one of many.

Update:

Looks like the gang will be heading to Chicago.
