New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony held an interview with Yahoo! Finance at the TechCrunch Disrupt Summit in Brooklyn because of course he did. He's the digital athlete, after all. Naturally he was asked about the Knicks, and his future with the organization. Melo was surprisingly confident, according to Ian Begley: "Oh, yeah, you'll see me here for the Knicks [next season]. Absolutely."
That's a far cry from the equivocal "As of right now, I'll be here" line he dropped only last month. Clearly Melo was juiced up to be around all that TechCrunch! Or maybe he just really wants to remain a Knick.
Nah ... it's gotta be the TechCrunch thing.
In the same article Begley quotes "league sources with knowledge of Anthony's thinking" as refuting Tuesday's report that Anthony had expressed his support for David Blatt. According to said sources, Melo has not expressed any opinion whatsoever on the former Cavs coach.
In his article, Marc Berman quoted "a person familiar with [Melo's] thinking" as saying Melo considered Blatt a better choice to develop Kristaps Porzingis.
I too consider myself a person familiar with Melo's thinking -- he likes New York and loves hats. I still believe he'd like to remain a Knick while being coached by someone who isn't Kurt Rambis.
Please hire a coach soon, Phil Jackson, and put an end to all this. A.B.R.
