Carmelo Anthony struggled mightily from the field in Team USA's Friday night win over Venezuela, shooting 2-10 (0-4 from beyond the arc) in the 80-45 victory. This may explain why he seems unwilling to walk a thousand miles just to see you tonight.
But fear not, for Venezuela is not the kryptonite of every Knick. Young center Willy Henrngomez had some fun early this week in two exhibition games against the Venezuelan national team.
First, from July 23:
Willy came off the bench to contribute 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
Second, we have a damn-near-repeat performance on July 25:
Willy dropped another 10 points on 4-4 shooting (2-2 from the line), grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 2 assists without a turnover. That's damn near a perfect game, yo!
You'll see a few commonalities in each video: slick passing, soft hands and deft post moves. He topped a no-look dish on the 23rd with a behind-the-back feed to a cutter on the 25th. Kid has some razzle-dazzle, as Clyde likes to say.
We'll be watching you in the Olympics, Willy. Your dedication to looking smooth as hell in the post is something we can all get behind.
