This Week in Knicks Social Media: It’s About That Time

Your Knicks in the here and now, but also in the there and then

Knicks take a lickin’ but keep on tickin’

Well. This week.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. It was the age of wisdom, the age of foolishness. The Knicks lost two heartbreakers and beat two hated rivals. Sometimes you win, sometimes the bear eats you.

To begin seriously, Joakim Noah paid homage to the passing of his famous soccer-playing grandfather Zacharie (Jo’s sportsball lineage is unmatched).

Always part of my spirit. Black stone.

Repose en paix, Zacharie.

On a lighter note, the Big Cheese Mindaugas Kuzminskas was looking back to simpler (or at least Kodachromed) times, recalling his first trip to an NBA game as just a tiny little Kuzminskid.

Same place, 14 years ago:)

Gotta wonder what kind of juice a 13 year old Lithuanian kid had to get center court pics, but it is Canada so maybe they just let you wander wherever? Or maybe they took one look at him, recognized the eye of the tiger and let the kid go where he wanted.

The past can be tricky though, as our favorite Lithuanian discovered when he accidentally riled the Garden Faithful with this photographic abomination (look away if you have a bad heart):

Grateful that life gives me opportunities to meet people like @reggiemillertnt #livingthedream

As Kuz quickly found out, time does not heal all wounds. He apologized soon after:

It’s ok, Cheese

Let’s not go too hard on him, fam. Rookie mistake.

Kuz was joined in looking back by Lance Thomas, who gifted us this amazing picture of his younger be-cornrowed days. Just going to come out here and say that I think he looks gorgeous.

If you didn't bring it on the court you got embarrassed by the best. #TBT #ABCDcamp #TrustYourWork

Really hope he and Melo and KP have had haircare conversations.

Nostalgia gripped other Knicks too — Ron Baker retweeted Duke Basketball’s (I know I know) farewell to President Obama

...and Carmelo Anthony thanked the outgoing President,

THANK YOU!!! #StayMe7o

...but it was Mrs. Melo, La La, who really sent the First Family off in style, with multiple posts and pictures, including this spanning-the-ages collage of Obamas and Anthonys:

Speaking of La La, Melo dropped a post to remind everyone of why he’s always smiling and seems pretty happy with where and when he is. Why he’s me77ow. And yeah, I’m just putting in a gratuitous La La pic because I think she’s awesome.

Ron is zen-ing out too, pulling up in his happy place, centering himself in his practice and sharing his joy.

Can't describe the joy this game brings to me. #Knicks

What a coincidence, your game brings me joy too, Ron.

More living in the now from Courtney Lee, who wants us to know that beating Boston was a Good Day.

We’ll wrap up with an amazing piece of timing that must bode well for the team: almost simultaneously four separate players posted the same team dinner photo. Sasha Vujacic, Kuz, Lance and Willy Hernangomez all gave us variations on this picture from last night in Dallas:

TEAM! #Knicks EQUIPO! #Knicks

Carpe diem. Today is all we have. There may be no tomorrow. Go the Knicks!
