Three guards!

The Knicks held practice on Thursday, and injured point guard Frank Ntilikina once again didn’t participate as he attempts to return from a knee contusion Kristaps Porzingis (sore hip) didn’t take part in contact drills.

Sigh

On the plus side, there is some video footage of young Frank getting buckets.

Hornacek spoke of playingTim Hardaway Jr. and Courtney Lee together at the 2 and 3. Getting the two guards into games at the same time would be welcome news for those of us hoping to get rookie shooting guard Damyean Dotson some playing time coming off the bench, though Hornacek does warn he’d only put Lee and Hardaway together in certain matchups:

"Yeah I think defensively they're able to scramble and help each other out and they can switch. There's going to be teams that that can be rough to do. A big guy at the three spot, Tim and Courtney are only 6-5, 6-4 something like that. They got a 3 man like Gordon Hayward's size, or something, it can be awfully tough. We might have to do something different. We don't have to go with the same starting group every single night. There might be nights where we have to change it a little bit. But hopefully the top 10 guys that stick out are in the rotation somehow."

Hardaway, Lee and Dotson are most certainly three of those top 10 guys, so let’s get them some minutes! Sure, Lee isn’t in the franchise’s future plans, but let’s bump up his trade stock! Go Knicks!

New York will finish their preseason slate Friday night against the Wizards.
