Knicks 118, Hornets 113: Scenes from the small-ball comeback of our dreams

This team!

NBA: Charlotte Hornets at New York Knicks Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

You guys...this team. These princes of New York, assembled from many nations, getting buckets beneath the shadow of Lady Liberty herself. Oh, how we love them.

The Knicks were in trouble throughout Tuesday’s contest with the Charlotte Hornets, giving up way too many open looks from three and suffering through both the Dwight Howard Dead Cat Bounce Game and the Malik Monk Revenge Game. Then Jeff Hornacek got a bit crazy in the fourth quarter with a lineup of Frank Ntilikina, Courtney Lee, Doug McDermott, Lance Thomas and Kyle O’Quinn. Then, with the Knicks still down nine, Horny went even hog-wilder, finishing up with a quintet of Frank, Lance, McBuckets, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Kristaps Porzingis at the 5.

It worked, to say the least: New York finished the game on an 18-4 run, with Kristaps providing all the sweet, sweet clutchness.

Plus a wink at Dwight Howard.

Frank and Lance are an unstoppable defensive duo. McBuckets dropped 20 points. Kristaps is clutch. He also blocks shots.

Recap to come. In conclusion: No. Thank you.
