Remember Carmelo Anthony — tall kid, scraggly beard, inexplicably loathed by his team president? Well he has been named to the 2017 Eastern Conference All-Star team in placed of the injured Kevin Love.

This will be the 10th All-Star appearance for Melo, who has made it every season as a Knicks. He had originally planned to spend his spend his break time far away from the dookie parade that is the Knicks’ off-court circus, according to Marc Berman:
He’s headed to a warm island – as long as the NBA doesn’t call him to be a replacement for injured Cavaliers star Kevin Love.
“I think everybody just needs a break, everybody is waiting for the break to decompress and re-evaluate,’’ Anthony said.
Melo will attend because it’s good for the brand, but I can’t help but feel he’d be better off taking that island vacation with La La. Still, he’s played some exceptional basketball of late, and screw all the other players in the East. Congrats, Melo!
